Why travellers from the Philippines need an Affidavit of Support and Guarantee
Under Philippines Law, travelers leaving the Philippines are questionned by Philippines Border Security about how they will support themselves overseas. The only documents accepted as proof of “support” from an overseas party is an official Affidavit of Support and Guarantee. It is a legal document that is provided by the traveller’s “sponsor” or financial supporter overseas.
It must be properly authenticated with an Apostille Stamp. If the traveller does not have an original copy of their affidavit when the pass through the airport to leave the Philippines, they risk being removed from their flight.
I already provided a letter of support in the Visa application, is that not enough?
The Affidavit is a different document from anything already provided in a visa application. It is normally produced after a visa is approved.
